Nestled in the heart of the Daintree National Park, the Daintree Wilderness Lodge offers you the intimacy only available at a small boutique resort. Each bungalow is individually located in a secluded piece of Fan Palm forest, accessible only by its own charming and pictureque boardwalk that meanders through your own piece of tropical splendor.
A small intimate lodge offering tranquility amongst the World Heritage rainforest, Daintree Wilderness Lodge is the most natural hideaway ever created. Only 90 minutes drive north from Cairns International Airport by conventional vehicle the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef and within this unique setting is the eco-tourism award winning Daintree Wilderness Lodge. Our luxury style bungalows offer complete privacy, with interconnecting boardwalks, breakfast served in your bungalow each morning, ensuite bathroom, and a viewing roof to allow you to experience the wonder of the rainforest canopy from within your room. A mini bar, and tea and coffee making facilities are also provided. Our restaurant offers a unique dining experience featuring fresh local seafoods and tropical fruits, and the fully licensed bar boasts a range of specially selected wines for the most discerning palate. Relax in the tranquil setting of our natural rock pool deep in the fan palm rainforest, or cool down in crystal clear spring water in our "Jungle Jacuzzi". A wide range of activities are availble including guided rainforest night tours, horse riding, river wildlife cruises and Great Barrier Reef snorkelling and diving. For those with a more leisurely inclination, there are wonderful beaches Cow Bay and Thornton's Beach to explore, tropical fruit and ice-cream tastings, or just taking in the ambience of the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest. Further afield, we offer fishing, safari tours, bird watching and crocodile spotting, and day trips to Cooktown can also be arranged. The pristine nature of the rainforest on our property allows it to support a small, but vibrant, community of Cassowaries - a rare flightless bird that is the essence of the Wet Tropics. Based at Cow Bay, the Cassowary Care Group focuses on habitat protection, restoration and education, and to ensure that they are able to continue their valuable work in this fragile ecosystem, we donate $1 per room per night to the Group. The Daintree Wilderness Lodge is proud to be awarded with an "Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation" from the Ecotourism Association of Australia. Ecotourism accreditation provides industry and consumers with an assurance that a product or service will be delivered with a commitment to best practice environmental management and the provision of quality ecotourism experiences for consumers. Click here for more information on the EAA accreditation program. The Wet Tropics Management Authority Board has recently initiated an award scheme that recognizes outstanding contributions made by individuals and organizations to the protection, conservation, presentation and management of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Anna Graham, the owner and designer of the Daintree Wilderness Lodge, was selected as one of the recipients of the inaugural Cassowary Awards for her demonstration of World's Best Practice in the development of a nature-based tourism operation in a rainforest setting.
